The North American Rock Garden Society has over 30 chapters across the U.S. Details can be found at NARGS
Feb. 10 Please notice the SIgn Up Genius email you are about to receive. NARGS has requested that our chapter handle the Surplus Seed Exchange and we have accepted the challenge! Kevin McIntosh will be coordinating the exchange which will occur at the home of Steven Branch and Wade Kness. Their address is 11128 Emack Road, Beltsville, MD 20705.
We are going to need volunteers to assemble the seed orders for those that have purchased seeds. On the days we meet, there will be printed order forms available. The volunteer will take a form, locate the seed packets and place the packets in an envelope. When the order is filled, the envelope will be placed in a box for mailing. That’s it – simple! We will train everyone before they start.
We are looking to sign up 6-8 volunteers per day for the first week which will be the busiest. We plan to meet on Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun to kick things off the first week of March. Please sign up to volunteer for as many days as you can for at least a half day. If you plan to work the entire day, you will want to pack a lunch. This is our first time doing this so we will probably make adjustments as we go along and we may add days or eliminate them depending on work load. The second week should be less busy (2-3 days) and there will be little to do the third week (1-2 days).
So please help out – we are counting on you! Use Sign Up Genius to volunteer. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kevin at firstname.lastname@example.org or 410-262-8152.
Our meetings usually occur on Saturday mornings, often at a local public garden, such as the US National Arboretum, US Botanic Gardens, or Brookside Gardens, and occasionally at a community center. Unless otherwise noted, doors open at 9:30 am for coffee with lecture at 10 am. (During Covid, Meetings will be on Zoom)
